Is Email Secure?
Where would the business world be now with out the use of email? Only a decade ago the business world was thrilled with the communication abilities that the fax machine and express mail service afforded them. Things could process faster, communication was quicker and business moved at a faster pace. Enter email. Now, with the advent of email and the ability for everyone to be in constant contact, businesses relay on the use of email more than ever. But is email secure?
Sadly, no. With cyber criminals always on the prowl for digital information, emails are not the safest form of information unless it is protected with an encryption program. An encryption service allows the sender to send emails to anyone in a manner that, if intercepted, cannot be read by anyone but its intended recipient. These encryption methods code and scramble your message allowing only the end user to decode the information.
Personal information is one of the hottest commodities on the black market. People are continually seeking ways to steel another person’s identity for financial or other gain. Personal information about you or your clients in your email messages are a prime way these criminals obtain this information.
Is email secure to use when you are sending any information? Probably not. All email that is not encrypted can be seen by anyone who wishes to intercept the message. This is a sad fact in the cyber world. There has already been many laws enacted that require certain institutions to always use encrypted email because of this fact. Medical, Financial and Government entities are all required, by law, to use encryption services because of the data they transfer over the internet.
As a business owner or corporate head you know that the usage of email has now become critical to the success of your company. This awesome tool that allows instant and total communication with business partners and clients alike can not easily be put to the side. Your only requirement will be to make sure that your information is protected. This way clients and employees alike, when asking if their data is safe and is the email secure, you can honestly answer yes.
